Նրա խոսքով, Սյունիքը և հատկապես Կապանը ամենաշատն է տուժել պատերազմի արդյունքում․ «Սյունեցին երբեք ծնկած չի եղել և չի լինելու։ Մենք չենք համակերպվելու այս իրավիճակի հետ։ Մենք ուզում ենք խաղաղություն, բայց այդ խաղաղությունը պետք է արժանապատիվ լինի։ Այս ընտրությունները սովորական չեն, սեղանին դրված է մեր լինել-չլինելը, պետություն ունենալ-չունենալը։ Եվ ես վստահ եմ, որ մենք ընտրելու ենք արժանապատիվ ապրելը»։
