Самвел Гаспарян занял первое место в весе до 102 кг на чемпионате Европы по тяжелой атлетике в Москве. Другой представитель Армении Арсен Мартиросян стал серебряным призером.

В сумме двоеборья Гаспарян показал результат 390 кг (176+214), а Мартиросян - 380 кг (171+209).

Третье место занял азербайджанец Дадаш Дадашбайли 379 кг (177+202).

10-го апреля на помост выйдут также Тетев Акопян (87 кг) и двукратный чемпион мира и Европы, вице-чемпион Олимпийских игр Симон Мартиросян (109 кг).

В составе сборной Армении чемпионом Европы также стал Карен Авагян (89 кг), а Андраник Карапетян (89 кг), Акоп Мкртчян (96 кг) и Лиана Гюрджян (81 кг) завоевали бронзовые медали. Изабелла Яйлян (55 кг) и Рафик Арутюнян (81 кг) заняли четвертое место.
