Ավստրալացի բժիշկ Օլիվիա Արեցոլլոն բացահայտել է, թե ինչ վնասակար հետեւանքներ կարող է ունենալ քնի պակասը։ Նա նշել է, որ ոչ լիարժեք քնի առաջին ախտանիշը աչքերի տակ պարկերի առկայությունն է եւ կապտածությունը։ Նա նշել է, որ չնայած երբեմն կապտածությունն ու պարկերը աչքերի տակ կարող են ժառանգաբար փոխանցվել, սակայն հիմնականում ութժամյա քնի պակասը նման ախտանշանային դրսեւորումներ ունենում է։ Նա նշել է, որ քնի պակասը կարող է բերել վաղաժամ ծերացման եւ մաշկի վիճակի վատացման։ Քնի պակասը նաեւ հոգեբանական խնդիրներ կարող է առաջացնել։

Այս խնդիրն ունեցողները որպես կանոն իրենց արտաքին տեսքից առանձնապես գոհ չեն եւ ավելի նյարդային վիճակում են գտնվում, քանի որ քնի պակասը սթրեսի հորմոն՝ կորտիզոլ է արտադրում։ Բացի այդ, թուլանում է մարդու իմունիտետը եւ կարող են առաջանալ սեւ կորյակներ։ Մասնագետը խորհուրդ է տալիս օրական քնել ութից ինը ժամ, խմել շատ ջուր՝ օրգանիզմի առողջ վիճակը պահպանելու համար։
