Հոկտեմբերի 2-ին Արցախի պաշտպանության բանակը հրապարակել էր մարտական գործողությունների ժամանակ զոհված ՊԲ 55 զինծառայողների անունները, որոնց մեջ սխալմամբ գրված էր նաև  2000թ․-ին ծնված Էրիկ Վարունցի անունը։

NEWS.am-ի հետ զրույցում «Հայկի սերունդ» հասարակական կազմակերպության ներկայացուցիչ Վլադիմիր Գրիգորյանն ասաց, որ Էրիկը կազմակերպության ակտիվ անդամներից է։

«Մի քանի օր Էրիկի հետ կապ չի եղել։ Նախնական տեղեկություն կար, որ ինքը զոհվել է, բայց հետո ճշտվեց, որ ծանր վիրավորում է ստացել։ Իրեն տեղափոխել են Երևան, մեր կազմակերպության ղեկավարը հետը խոսել է։ Վիրավորումները ծանր են, բայց վիճակը ստաբիլացվել է։ 3-4 օր տենց վիրավոր մարտի դաշտում է եղել, պայքարել է թե՛ իր առողջության, թե՛ թշնամու դեմ»,- ասաց Վլադիմիր Գրիգորյանը։
