Մարտի 3-ը Գրողի համաշխարհային օրն է

Ամեն տարի մարտի 3-ին աշխարհի գրեթե բոլոր երկրներում նշվում է Գրողի համաշխարհային օրը (World Day of the writer): Օրը հիմնադրվել է Միջազգային PEN ակումբի (International PEN Club) 48-րդ կոնգրեսի որոշմամբ, որը տեղի է ունեցել 1986 թվականի հունվարի 12-18-ին, փոխանցում է  Calend-ը:

PEN-ակումբը ստեղծվել է 1921 թվականին Լոնդոնում: Կազմակերպության անվանման հապավումը կազմված է անգլերեն հետեւյալ բառերի առաջին տառերից. Poets՝ բանաստեղծներ, Essayists՝ ակնարկ գրողներ, Novelists՝ վիպագիրներ: Դրանից բացի, հապավումը համընկնում է pen բառին, որն անգլերենից թարգմանաբար նշանակում է գրիչ:

Կազմակերպության ստեղծման գաղափարը պատկանում է անգլիացի գրող Քեթրին Էմի Դոուսոն-Սքոթին: PEN ակումբի առաջին նախագահն է եղել Ջոն Գոլսուորսին: Ակումբի առաջին միջազգային կոնգրեսը կայացել է 1923 թվականին Լոնդոնում, այդ ժամանակ PEN ակումբի կենտրոններ են ստեղծվել աշխարհի 11 երկրներում: Այսօր այդպիսի կենտրոններ են գործում աշխարհի 130 երկրներում:
