Հարբեցողությամբ տառապող տղամարդիկ ավելի քիչ են ենթակա լյարդի հետագա հիվանդություններին, քան նման կախվածությամբ կանայք: Նման եզրակացության են հանգել ամերիկացի գիտնականները: Հետազոտությունը հրապարակվել է Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research ամսագրում, դրա մասին համառոտ հայտնում է News Wise-ը:

Հետազոտության ընթացքում մասնագետները հետազոտել են 21-ից 65 տարեկան, հարբեցողությամբ տառապող 114 տղամարդու եւ կնոջ վիճակը եւ պարզել, որ լյարդի հարբեցողական հիվանդությունը կանանց մոտ երկու անգամ ավելի հաճախակի է հանդիպել, քան տղամարդկանց:

Հետազոտության հեղինակները կարծում են, որ նույնիսկ եթե կանայք ավելի քիչ են ալկոհոլ օգտագործում, քան տղամարդիկ, նրանց լյարդն ավելի մեծ ռիսկի է ենթարկվում, քան վերջիններիս մոտ: Սակայն իրենց` գիտնականների խոսքով, այդ հիպոթեզը դեռեւս ապացույցների կարիք ունի:
