Ծանրամարտի աշխարհի չեմպիոն Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանի համար հաջորդ կարևորագույն նպատակը Տոկիոյի 32-րդ ամառային Օլիմպիական խաղերի չեմպիոնի տիտղոսն է:

«Ինչի համար, որ գնացել էի աշխարհի առաջնության, դրանով էլ հետ եկա: Իմ ռեկորդները միայն և միայն քրտնաջան աշխատանքի արդյունք են: Իսկ նման դիմավորումն էլ նոր շարժառիթ է հաջորդ տարիների հաջողությունս կրկնելու և գերազանցելու համար»,-«Զվարթնոց» օդանավակայանում լրագրողների հետ զրույցում ասաց Մարտիրոսյանը:

Մարտիրոսյանի խոսքով` 8 տարի առաջ, երբ սկսեց մարզվել ծանրամարտով, չէր էլ կարող պատկերացնել, որ այս տարիքում կդառնա աշխարհի չեմպիոն: «Իմ նպատակը Տոկիոյի Օլիմպիական խաղերի ոսկե մեդալն է, որին ձգտում եմ: Հույս ունեմ, որ այնտեղից էլ ոսկե մեդալով կվերադառնամ»,-եզրափակեց նա:
