Լոնդոնի 30-րդ ամառային Օլիմպիական խաղերում մեկ արծաթե և երկու բրոնզե մեդալ նվաճելուց հետո Հայաստանի ազգային օլիմպիական կոմիտեն ՀԱՕԿ նախագահ Գագիկ Ծառուկյանի գլխավորությամբ անմիջապես սկսեց նախապատրաստվել Ռիոյի Օլիմպիական խաղերին: Աշխատանքները շատ էին ու բազմազան, այդ թվում՝ հեղինակավոր տարբեր մրցաշարերին մարզիկների նախապատրաստում և մասնակցություն: Բոլոր անհրաժեշտ սխեմաների պատրաստում, մարզադպրոցների կառուցում ու վերանորոգում, մարզիկների ու մարզիչների պարգևատրումներ:

Քառամյա ցիկլի ընթացքում ՀԱՕԿ նախագահ Գագիկ Ծառուկյանն անմիջական հետևողականության տակ էր վերցրել մեր մարզիկների նախապատրաստական գործընթացը և հաճախ անձամբ էր հետևում մարզումներին: Ամենօրյա ուշադրություն, առաջ քաշված խնդիրների լուծում. այս սկզբունքով է առաջնորդվել ՀԱՕԿ-ն այս ժամանակահատվածում:
