Ռուսաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարարությունը հայտարարել է, որ որոշ վրացական խմիչքների ներմուծման և վաճառքի սահմանափակումները կապված են բացառապես արտադրանքի որակի և անվտանգության հարցերի հետ: Մոսկվան հերքում է Թբիլիսիի վրա քաղաքական ճնշումը և իրավիճակը անվանում է սանիտարական գերատեսչության սովորական աշխատանք։

«Մենք տեսնում ենք, թե ինչպես են նրանք փորձում լիովին սովորական ընթացակարգը վերածել ինչ-որ քաղաքական գործոնի, շահարկել այս հարցը: Այստեղ ոչինչ փնտրելու կարիք չկա: Քաղաքական դրդապատճառ չկա», — չորեքշաբթի օրը կայացած ճեպազրույցում ասել է Ռուսաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարարության մամուլի խոսնակ Մարիա Զախարովան։

Նրա խոսքով՝ որոշումը կայացրել է «Ռոսպոտրեբնադզորը», որի խնդիրն է ստուգել ներմուծվող ապրանքների համապատասխանությունը Ռուսաստանի անվտանգության պահանջներին: Զախարովան պնդում է, որ խախտումներ են հայտնաբերվել մի քանի վրացական ընկերություններում, մինչդեռ մյուս մատակարարները շարունակում են գործել ռուսական շուկայում առանց սահմանափակումների։
