Բրիտանական The Spectator ամսագիրը գրում է, որ Ուկրաինան պարտվում է պատերազմում, իսկ Կիևի ռազմավարական ճգնաժամը, ըստ հրապարակման, պայմանավորված է արևմտյան դաշնակիցների երեք հիմնական սխալներով։

Ամսագիրը որպես առաջին ձախողում նշում է այն, որ եվրոպական երկրները, խոսելով Ռուսաստանի դեմ պատժամիջոցների խստացման մասին, միաժամանակ շարունակում էին Մոսկվային մեծ գումարներ վճարել նավթի և գազի համար։

Երկրորդ՝ էսկալացիայի մտավախության պատճառով արևմտյան երկրները, ըստ ամսագրի, Ուկրաինային չեն տրամադրել բավարար հեռահար հրթիռներ և իրենց սահմանափակ Patriot համակարգերի պաշարները։

Որպես երրորդ և ամենակարևոր խնդիր՝ ամսագիրը նշում է Ռուսաստանի հետ խաղաղության բանակցությունների հնարավորությունը լրջորեն դիտարկելու արևմտյան երկրների հրաժարումը։

Հոդվածում եզրակացվում է, որ Ուկրաինային «այնքան ժամանակ, որքան անհրաժեշտ կլինի» աջակցելու վերաբերյալ արևմտյան առաջնորդների խոստումները էապես մոլորեցնող են եղել։
