«Մենք, ակնհայտորեն, բավականաչափ մեծ ենք, որպեսզի հաղթահարենք սպառնալիքներն ամբողջ աշխարհում, ներառյալ Չինաստանը», - Fox News հեռուստաալիքի եթերում ասել է քաղաքական գործիչը՝ ի պատասխան այն հարցին, թե արդյոք ինքը չի անհանգստանում, որ զինանոցների կրճատումը և ամերիկյան զինվորականների վրա լրացուցիչ ծանրաբեռնվածությունը կարող է ազդել սպառնալիքներին ԱՄՆ-ի պատասխանի վրա:

Վենսն ավելացրել է, որ ՉԺՀ-ի հետ հակասությունները չեն խանգարի Վաշինգտոնին ձգտել Պեկինի հետ դրական հարաբերությունների։

«Մենք գիտակցում ենք, որ նրանք մեզ համար մրցակից են ներկայացնում, որ նրանք ունեն հավակնություններ, որոնք հակասում են մերին, և մենք ձգտում ենք մեր հարաբերությունները դրական հունով կառուցել», - նշել է ԱՄՆ փոխնախագահը:
