Մահացել է Սիյմ Կալասը՝ Էստոնիայի նախկին վարչապետը և Կայա Կալասի հայրը

Օգոստոսի 22-ի գիշերը 78 տարեկանում մահացել է Էստոնիայի նախկին վարչապետ, Եվրոպական հանձնաժողովի նախկին փոխնախագահ և Բարեփոխումների կուսակցության հիմնադիրներից մեկը՝ Սիյմ Կալասը, հայտնում է ERR.ee-ն։

Քաղաքական գործչի մահվան մասին հայտնել է նրա դուստրը՝ եվրոպական դիվանագիտության ղեկավար Կայա Կալասը։

«Խորը վշտով պետք է հայտնեմ, որ այս գիշեր մահացել է իմ սիրելի հայրը», — գրել է նա սոցիալական ցանցերում։

Սիյմ Կալասը ղեկավարել է Էստոնիայի կառավարությունը 2002–2003 թվականներին։ 2004–2014 թվականներին նա զբաղեցրել է Եվրոպական հանձնաժողովի փոխնախագահի պաշտոնը։ Ավելի վաղ Կալասը եղել է Էստոնիայի արտաքին գործերի նախարար 1995–1996 թվականներին և ֆինանսների նախարար՝ 1999–2002 թվականներին։

Էստոնիայի անկախության վերականգնումից հետո նա 1991–1995 թվականներին ղեկավարել է Էստոնիայի բանկը։ Այդ պաշտոնում Կալասը մասնակցել է դրամական բարեփոխման նախապատրաստմանը և 1992 թվականին էստոնական կրոնի ներդրմանը։

Կալասը Բարեփոխումների կուսակցության հիմնադիրներից մեկն էր և երկար տարիներ ղեկավարել է այն։
