Памятник федерального значения Сурб Хач в Ростове-на-Дону оказался в частных руках почти два десятилетия назад – бесплатно. После массовой вырубки деревьев вокруг армянского храма Сурб Хач в Ростове-на-Дону тревогу подняли активисты, много лет занимавшиеся благоустройством территории. По их мнению, работы ведутся с целью дальнейшей застройки и фактического уничтожения объекта культурного наследия федерального значения. К инициативе присоединился донской комитет по охране памятников.

Сейчас комитет по охране объектов культурного наследия Ростовской области выясняет, кто причастен к вырубке зеленых насаждений и проведению земляных работ рядом с храмом. Как отмечают в ведомстве, никаких разрешений на подобные действия ни комитет, ни администрация Ворошиловского района не выдавали.
