Վաշինգտոնի կողմից հայտարարված «Ազատություն» գործողությունը՝ Հորմուզի նեղուցով առևտրային նավերը անվտանգ կերպով հեռացնելու համար, պարտադիր զինվորական ուղեկցություն չի պահանջում, հաղորդել է Axios-ը՝ հղում անելով ԱՄՆ պաշտոնյաներին։

ԱՄՆ նախագահ Թրամփը հայտարարել է, որ ԱՄՆ ռազմածովային ուժերը երկուշաբթի օրվանից կսկսեն ուղղորդել օտարերկրյա երկրների նավերը Հորմուզի նեղուցով և զգուշացրել է, որ եթե Իրանը փորձի խափանել գործընթացը, ամերիկյան զինվորականները ուժ կկիրառեն։

Աղբյուրները բացատրել են, որ նավերը կտեղակայվեն մոտակայքում՝ հնարավոր սպառնալիքներին արագ արձագանքելու համար։ Զինվորականներին նաև հանձնարարվելու է քաղաքացիական անձնակազմին տեղեկացնել նեղուցով անվտանգ երթուղիների մասին։

Հորմուզի նեղուցի նոր նախաձեռնությունը պարտադիր չէ, որ ներառի ԱՄՆ ռազմածովային ուժերի ուղեկցություն առևտրային նավերի համար։

Նեղուցում նավագնացությունը գործնականում դադարեցվել է, քանի դեռ ԱՄՆ նախագահը քննարկում է Իրանի առաջարկը՝ հակամարտությունը կարգավորելու համար։
