Կիպրոսի իշխանությունները հաստատել են երկրում բրիտանական ռազմաբազայի վրա անօդաչու թռչող սարքով իրականացրած հարձակումը, որը «սահմանափակ վնաս է հասցրել»։ Այս մասին հայտնում է Associated Press գործակալությունը։

Կառավարության խոսնակ Կոնստանտինոս Լետիմբիոտիսը հայտնել է, որ միջադեպը տեղի է ունեցել երկուշաբթի օրը՝ կեսգիշերից անմիջապես հետո։

Նա նշել է, որ «տարբեր ուղիներով ստացված տեղեկատվությունը» վկայում է անօդաչու թռչող սարքի հարվածի մասին։

Նա չի մանրամասնել, թե ինչ տեսակի անօդաչու թռչող սարք է եղել, որտեղից է այն արձակվել և ինչպիսին է հասցված վնասի չափը։

Լետիմբիոտիսը նշել է, որ Կիպրոսի իշխանությունները Մեծ Բրիտանիայի հետ համակարգված կերպով ուշադիր հետևում են իրավիճակին։

Կասկածելի անօդաչու թռչող սարքի հարվածը տեղի է ունեցել այն բանից հետո, երբ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի վարչապետ Քեյր Սթարմերը հայտարարել է, որ Մեծ Բրիտանիան կօգնի ԱՄՆ-ին Իրանի դեմ պատերազմում։
