ԵՄ գագաթնաժողովը որոշել է սկսել Արկտիկայում ռազմական գործողությունների համար անհրաժեշտ զենքի, այդ թվում՝ սառցահատների գնումը, հայտարարել է Եվրահանձնաժողովի նախագահ Ուրսուլա ֆոն դեր Լեյենը: 

Ֆոն դեր Լեյենը հայտարարել է, որ Եվրամիությունը կամրապնդի համագործակցությունը Գրենլանդիայի հետ և կավելացնի այնտեղ ներդրումները։

«Մենք նաև մտադիր ենք խորացնել համագործակցությունը Միացյալ Նահանգների և բոլոր գործընկերների հետ Արկտիկայի անվտանգության կարևոր հարցի շուրջ։ Մասնավորապես, մենք կարծում ենք, որ մեր պաշտպանական ծախսերի ավելացումը պետք է օգտագործենք Արկտիկական գործողությունների համար հարմար սարքավորումներ գնելու համար` ինչպիսին է եվրոպական սառցահատը», - ասել է նա։

Եվրամիությունը նաև մտադիր է ամրապնդել անվտանգության և պաշտպանության ոլորտում համագործակցությունը տարածաշրջանի այլ գործընկերների, մասնավորապես՝ Միացյալ Թագավորության, Կանադայի, Նորվեգիայի և Իսլանդիայի հետ, հավելել է Եվրահանձնաժողովի ղեկավարը։
