Իրանում բողոքի ցույցերի ժամանակ մոտ 2000 մարդ է զոհվել, այդ թվում՝ անվտանգության աշխատակիցներ, հաղորդել է «Reuters»-ը՝ հղում անելով իրանցի պաշտոնյայի: 

Reuters-ի տվյալներով՝ իրանցի պաշտոնյան ասել է, որ ինչպես ցուցարարների, այնպես էլ անվտանգության աշխատակիցների մահվան հետևում կանգնած են այն մարդիկ, որոնց նա անվանել է ահաբեկիչներ: Պաշտոնյան չի մանրամասնել, թե ովքեր են զոհվել:

Ավելի վաղ Իրանի արտգործնախարար Աբբաս Արաղչին ասել է, որ Իրանում ցույցերը սկզբից խաղաղ էին, սակայն հետո ներգրավվել են ահաբեկչական խմբեր: նրա խոսքով՝ կան ձայնագրություններ, որոնցում ահաբեկիչները ասում են, որ կարող են կրակել ցանկացածին՝ զոհերի թիվը մեծացնելու նպատակով, քանի որ Թրամփը հայտարարել էր, որ կմիջամտի եթե զոհերի թիվը շատանա:
