The New York Times-ում հրապարակված տեղեկությունների համաձայն, ԱՄՆ-ի ռազմական հարձակման հետևանքով Վենեսուելայում զոհվել է առնվազն 40 մարդ, այդ թվում՝ քաղաքացիական անձինք և զինվորներ։

Թերթը մեջբերում է անանուն բարձրաստիճան պաշտոնյայի խոսքը․ «Հարձակման արդյունքում զոհվել է առնվազն 40 մարդ, այդ թվում՝ քաղաքացիական անձինք և զինվորներ»։

Ամերիկյան պաշտոնյաները հայտնել են, որ հարձակումը կապված է եղել լայնածավալ օդային արշավի հետ, որի նպատակն էր շարքից դուրս բերել Վենեսուելայի հակաօդային պաշտպանության միջոցները՝ նախքան ցամաքային ուժերի տեղակայումը։

Ավելի քան 150 ամերիկյան ինքնաթիռներ են ներգրավվել հակաօդային պաշտպանության ճնշման համար, որպեսզի ռազմական ուղղաթիռները կարողանան զորքեր տեղափոխել Մադուրոյի դիրքերի վրա հարձակվելու համար, հայտնել են ։ԱՄՆ պաշտոնյաները։
