Կամավոր զինվորական ծառայությունը Ֆրանսիայում կներդրվի հաջորդ ամռանը, հայտարարել է Ֆրանսիայի նախագահ Էմանուել Մակրոնը։

«Հաջորդ ամռանից աստիճանաբար կներդրվի նոր ազգային ծառայություն: Ես առաջարկում եմ լիովին զինվորական ծառայություն, որը համընդհանուր չէ, բայց որը դեռ կարող է ընդգրկել ամբողջ սերնդին», - հայտարարել է Մակրոնը՝ ելույթ ունենալով Ֆրանսիայի հարավ-արևելքում գտնվող Վար-Ալիե-է-Ռիսե ռազմաբազայում:

Ֆրանսիան պաշտոնապես վերացրել է պարտադիր զինվորական ծառայությունը 1997 թվականին։ Օրենքը նախատեսում էր զորակոչի աստիճանական վերացում. պարտադիր զինվորական ծառայության էին ենթակա միայն 1978 թվականի վերջից առաջ ծնված տղամարդիկ։ 2001 թվականին՝ զորակոչի վերջին տարում, զորակոչվել է ընդամենը 23,000 տղամարդ, որոնք ծառայել են ընդամենը վեց ամիս՝ նախկին տասը ամսվա փոխարեն։
