18 կարատանոց ոսկուց պատրաստված 100 կիլոգրամանոց «Ամերիկա» անունով զուգարանակոնքը վաճառվել է ավելի քան 12 միլիոն դոլարով, հայտնում է Sotheby's աճուրդի տունը, որը կազմակերպել էր վաճառքը:

Զուգարանակոնքի հեղինակն է իտալացի հայտնի նկարիչ Մաուրիցիո Կատելանը: Ընդամենը երկու նման զուգարանակոնք կար։ Մեկը գողացել էին 2019 թվականի սեպտեմբերին այն պալատից, որտեղ ծնվել է Ուինսթոն Չերչիլը։ Զուգարանը ցուցադրվել է պալատում անցկացվող արվեստի ցուցահանդեսի շրջանակներում, բայց դեռևս հասանելի էր օգտագործման համար։

«Աճուրդի հանված զուգարանակոնքի սեփականատերը ամերիկացի միլիարդատեր Սթիվեն Քոհենն է», - հաղորդել է «New York Times»-ը։
