ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը շաբաթ օրը X սոցիալական ցանցում հրապարակված նամակներում հայտնել է, որ Եվրոպական միությունից և Մեքսիկայից ներմուծվող ապրանքների վրա օգոստոսի 1-ից կկիրառվեն ԱՄՆ–ի 30-տոկոսանոց մաքսատուրքեր։

Մաքսատուրքերի մասին նամակները, մասնավորապես, հասցեագրված են Եվրոպական հանձնաժողովի ղեկավար Ուրսուլա ֆոն դեր Լեյենին և Մեքսիկայի նախագահ Կլաուդիա Շայնբաումին։

ԵՄ-ն հույս ուներ համապարփակ առևտրային համաձայնագրի հասնել ԱՄՆ-ի հետ։

Այս շաբաթ Թրամփը հայտարարել է մի շարք երկրների, այդ թվում՝ Ճապոնիայի, Հարավային Կորեայի, Կանադայի և Բրազիլիայի համար նոր մաքսատուրքեր սահմանելու մասին, ինչպես նաև պղնձի վրա 50-տոկոսանոց մաքսատուրքի ներդրման մասին։
