Ընտանեկան բռնությունը միտումնավոր արարքների մի ամբողջ շղթա է, որով ընտանիքի մի անդամը մյուսի հանդեպ վերահսկողություն հաստատելու նպատակով հարկադրում է նրան կատարել իր ցանկությունները և թելադրում է իր կամքը:

«Կանանց իրավունքների կենտրոն» ՀԿ նախագահ Սուսաննա Վարդանյանը Henaran.am-ին պատմեց ընտանեկան բռնության այն սահմռկեցուցիչ դեպքերի մասին, որոնք հոգեբանական և ֆիզիկական ծանր ներգործություն են թողել ոչ միայն մոր, այլ նաև երեխայի վրա:

«Ցնցող դեպքերը շատ են, օրինակ՝ կնոջ մազերից բռնել և կախել էր բալկոնից: Ինքը հաղթանդամ տղամարդ՝ կինը փոքր-մոքր էր, երկար մազեր ուներ, ամուսինը կախել է էտպես բալկոնից ու մտածել՝ գցեմ, թե չգցեմ:

Դեպք է եղել քացախ է լցրել կնոջ ձեռքին, ձեռքի վրա սիգարետ է այրել»:
