Մյանմայի ափերի մոտ 5,0 մագնիտուդ ուժգնությամբ երկրաշարժ է տեղի ունեցել, հայտնում է ԱՄՆ երկրաբանական ծառայությունը (USGS):

Ստորգետնյա ցնցումները գրանցվել են UTC-ի ժամը 16:27-ին (Մոսկվայի ժամանակով 19:27-ին) Պյապոնե քաղաքից 86 կիլոմետր դեպի հարավ, որն ունի ավելի քան 76 հազար մարդ:

Սեյսմոլոգների տվյալներով՝ աղբյուրը գտնվել է տասը կիլոմետր խորության վրա։

Զոհերի կամ ցունամիի սպառնալիքի մասին դեռ տեղեկություններ չկան։
Մարտի 28-ին Մյանմայում 7,7 մագնիտուդ ուժգնությամբ հզոր երկրաշարժ է տեղի ունեցել, ցնցումները զգացվել են հարևան հինգ երկրներում, այդ թվում՝ Թաիլանդում։ Վերջին տվյալներով՝ երկրաշարժի զոհերի թիվը հասել է 2886-ի, ևս 4639 մարդ վիրավորվել է, 373 մարդ անհետ կորած է համարվում։
