Եվրոպացի քաղաքական գործիչները երեք նպատակ ունեն ՌԴ-ի և ԱՄՆ-ի միջև շփումների վերսկսման հետ կապված, գրում է Foreign Affairs-ը:

Ինչպես նշում են հրապարակման հեղինակները, եվրոպացի առաջնորդները մտածում են այն մասին, որ ամերիկյան «միջուկային հովանոցն» այլևս չի հանդիսանա իրենց անվտանգության երաշխավորը Մոսկվայի և Վաշինգտոնի մերձեցման և ԵՄ ներքին քաղաքականության վերաբերյալ ամերիկյան փոխնախագահ Վենսի հռետորաբանության պատճառով:

Այդ կապակցությամբ Եվրոպան պետք է ընտրի միջուկային անվտանգության հարցում իր գլխավոր նպատակները։ Խոսքը Ռուսաստանի հուսալի և արդյունավետ զսպման, ռազմավարական կայունության և նոր պետություններում միջուկային զենքի հայտնվելը թույլ չտալու մասին է։ Հրապարակման հեղինակներն ընդգծել են, որ «եվրոպացի առաջնորդներին չի հաջողվի հասնել բոլոր երեք նպատակներին միաժամանակ. դրանցից երկուսի ձեռքբերումն անհնար է դարձնում երրորդին հասնելը»:
