Բռնցքամարտը կընդգրկվի 2028 թվականի Լոս Անջելեսում կայանալիք Օլիմպիական խաղերի մարզական ծրագրում։ Սա հաստատվել է հինգշաբթի օրը՝ մարտի 20-ին, Հունաստանի Կոստա Նավարինոյում կայացած Միջազգային օլիմպիական կոմիտեի (ՄՕԿ) 144-րդ նստաշրջանում։

Բռնցքամարտը ներառված չէր 2028 թվականի Օլիմպիական խաղերի սկզբնական ծրագրում, որը հաստատվել էր 2022 թվականի փետրվարին ՄՕԿ-ի նստաշրջանի կողմից՝ բռնցքամարտի միջազգային ասոցիացիայի (IBA) հետ կապված շարունակական մտահոգությունների պատճառով, որն այն ժամանակ ղեկավարում էր բռնցքամարտը:

ՄՕԿ-ը պարզաբանել է, որ բռնցքամարտի ազգային ֆեդերացիաները պետք է կոնսենսուսի հասնեն, որպեսզի բռնցքամարտը ներառվի 2028 թվականի Օլիմպիական խաղերի սպորտային ծրագրում։
