100 տարեկանում մահացել է ԱՄՆ նախկին նախագահ Ջիմի Քարթերը, հայտնում է ՌԻԱ «Նովոստի»-ն։

«Նախկին նախագահ Ջիմի Քարթերը, մարդը, որը վերաիմաստավորել է, թե ինչպիսի կյանք կարող է լինել նախագահությունից հետո, մահացել է կիրակի օրը: Նա 100 տարեկան էր»,- ասվում է հայտարարության մեջ։ Ավելի ուշ Ջիմի Քարթերի բարեգործական հիմնադրամը հաստատել է այս տեղեկությունը։

 ԱՄՆ գործող նախագահ Ջո Բայդենը և երկրի ընտրված առաջնորդ Դոնալդ Թրամփը ցավակցություն են հայտնել նրա մահվան կապակցությամբ։

Ջիմի Քարթերն ԱՄՆ 39-րդ նախագահն է, նա պաշտոնը զբաղեցրել է 1977 թվականի հունվար 20-ից մինչև 1981 թվականի հունվար 20-ը։

2002 թվականին նա ստացել է Խաղաղության Նոբելյան մրցանակ իր աշխատանքի համար «աշխարհում հակամարտությունները խաղաղ ճանապարհով լուծելու և մարդու իրավունքների համար պայքարելու ջանքերի համար»։
