Սպառազինությունների վերահսկման ամերիկյան ասոցիացիայի գործադիր տնօրեն Դարել Քիմբալը ՌԻԱ Նովոստիին ասել է, որ չի բացառում, որ ԱՄՆ նորընտիր նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփն ու ՌԴ նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինն առաջիկայում ուղիղ եթերում կարող են քննարկել միջուկային ոլորտում երկու երկրների միջև փոխադարձ սահմանափակումների տարբերակները։ 

«Մինչ օրս Թրամփը և նրա թիմը, ինչպես նաև նախագահ Պուտինը չեն առաջարկել Ռուսաստանի ռազմավարական զինանոցի օգտագործումը սահմանափակելու ծրագիր: Այնուամենայնիվ, հավանական է, որ երկու նախագահները ուղիղ քննարկումներ կունենան Ուկրաինայի հակամարտության և այլ հարցերի վերաբերյալ, և հնարավոր է, եթե ոչ հավանական, «որ նրանք քննարկեն փոխադարձ սահմանափակումների տարբերակները START III-ի ժամկետի ավարտի ֆոնին», - ասել է նա գործակալությանը:

Քիմբալն ընդգծել է, որ ԱՄՆ-ի և Ռուսաստանի միջև միջուկային զենքի վերահսկումը երկու երկրների համար անհրաժեշտություն է։

«Չնայած վստահությունը կարող է լինել պատմական նվազագույնի վրա, սա ևս մեկ պատճառ է երկու կողմերի համար՝ խուսափելու անսահմանափակ ռազմավարական միջուկային մրցակցությունից այժմ կամ ապագայում», - հավելել է ասոցիացիայի ղեկավարը:
