Ռուսաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարարության պաշտոնական ներկայացուցիչ Մարիա Զախարովան հաստատել է Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության պատրաստակամությունը երկխոսելու Տոկիոյի հետ, եթե վերջինս հրաժարվի Մոսկվայի նկատմամբ «թշնամական կուրսից»:

Նա այսպես է մեկնաբանել Ճապոնիայի վարչապետի հայտարարությունը, թե իր կառավարությունը հավատարիմ է մնում Ռուսաստանի հետ տարածքային խնդիրների լուծմանն ու խաղաղության պայմանագրի կնքմանը։ Զախարովան շեշտել է, որ տարածքային խնդրի լուծումը կարող է լինել միայն Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության հետ դե ֆակտո գոյություն ունեցող սահմանն ընդունելն ու դրան միջազգային իրավական ձևակերպում տալը։

«Ռուսաստանի Դաշնության նորացված Սահմանադրության պարագայում այլ բանի մասին խոսք չի կարող լինել»,- հավելել է Զախարովան։
