«Ամերիկացիները ստում են, թե Իրանը միջուկային ռումբ է ցանկանում ստեղծել: Նրանք մեր մասին սուտ տեղեկություններ են տարածում աշխարհին։ Իրանը կնքեց միջուկային գործարք և իրականացնում էր դրա դրույթները, Ատոմային էներգիայի գործակալությունը ամենաշատ վերահսկողությունն ուներ Իրանի խաղաղ միջուկային գործունեության վրա...

Եթե մենք զենք և հրթիռներ ենք արտադրում, միայն պաշտպանվելու նպատակով ենք անում։ Սադամ Հուսեյնի կողմից պարտադրված պատերազմի ժամանակ ամերիկացիների և եվրոպական որոշ երկրների աջակցությամբ մեր երկիրը հրթիռակոծվեց, իսկ մենք անպաշտպան էինք», -ասել է Իրանի նախագահը:

Նա ընդգծել է, որ Իրանը պաշտպանվելու համար պետք է ունենա բարձր ռազմական հզորություն, որպեսզի երկրի թշնամիները չկարողանան սպառնալ Թեհրանին։
