Ադրբեջանի վերջին ագրեսիան մարտահրավեր է ոչ միայն Հայաստանի տարածքային ամբողջականության, այլ նաև նրա գոյության համար: Եվրոպական խորհրդարանի՝ Հայաստան-ԵՄ հարաբերությունների վերաբերյալ նիստում նման հայտարարություն է արել Եվրախորհրդարանի դանիացի պատգամավոր Քերըն Մելքիորը:

«Հայաստանի որոշումը՝ սառեցնել մասնակցությունը ՀԱՊԿ-ին, հաստատում է այն իրողությունը, որ Ռուսաստանը Հայաստանի վստահելի դաշնակիցը, բարեկամը չէ: Հայաստանի իրական բարեկամը Եվրոպան է: Մենք պետք է ապացուցենք, որ Հայաստանի բարեկամն ենք, պետք է աջակցենք նրան և մյուս երկրներում ապրող հայ փոքրամասնությանը՝ խոստանալով անվտանգություն, շարունակելով դաշնակցային հարաբերություններն ու համագործակցությունը»:
