«Հրապարակ» թերթը գրում է. «ԱԺ-ն փետրվարի 8-ին ԲԴԽ անդամ ընտրեց փաստաբան Կարեն Թումանյանին։ ՔՊ-ն 69 կողմ ձայնով ընտրեց նրան որպես ԲԴԽ գիտնական անդամ։ Նա Վանաձորում փաստաբանական  ծառայություններ է մատուցել թե՛ քաղաքացիաիրավական, թե՛ քրեաիրավական ոլորտում։

Դատական իշխանությանը մոտ կանգնած աղբյուրը նշեց, որ Թումանյանը Սնանկության դատարանի նախագահ Գագիկ Հովհաննիսյանի սանիկն է, եւ այս քավոր-սանիկությունից Վանաձորում շատերն են տուժել` Թումանյանը սնանկության գործերում ակտիվ դերակատարում է ունեցել: Մեզ հետ զրույցում Թումանյանը սկզբում սիրալիր ընդունեց շնորհավորանքները` ընտրվելու առիթով, սակայն լսելով հարցը՝ քավոր-սանիկության մասին, կտրուկ նետեց, թե մեկնաբանություն չի տալիս»:
