86 տարեկանում կյանքից հեռացել է աշխարհի ամենաբարձր գագաթը՝ Էվերեստը (Ջոմոլունգմա) բարձրացրած հայ լեռնագնաց Լև Սարկիսովը։ Այս մասին հայտնել է Հայաստանի ալպինիզմի և լեռնային տուրիզմի ֆեդերացիան:

Լև Սարկիսովը ծնվել է 1938 թվականի դեկտեմբերի 2-ին՝ Վորոնեժ քաղաքում: Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմից հետո Սարկիսովների ընտանիքը տեղափոխվել է Թբիլիսի: Հայ լեռնագնացն Էվերեստ լեռան գագաթ հասել է վրացիների կողմից կազմակերպված կովկասյան թիմի կազմում, որն ունեցել է «Կովկաս-99» անվանումը:

ՀՀ վարչապետի 2016 թվականի հուլիսի 27-ի որոշմամբ՝ Լև Սարկիսովին շնորհվել է շնորհակալագիր` լեռնագնացության ոլորտում ներդրած նշանակալի ավանդի և ունեցած ակնառու նվաճումների համար:
