Տրոմսոյի և Նորվեգիայի գիտնականները բացահայտել են, որ անմիջական կապ կա հեռացված ատամի և հիշողության որակի միջև:

Լայնածավալ հետազոտության ընթացքում ստացվել է յուրահատուկ տեղեկություն: Առաջին անգամ հեռացված ատամի և հիշողության մասին խոսել են ճապոնացիները: Նրանք անցկացրել են հետազոտություն կրծողների վրա և պարզել, որ կենդանիների մոտ վատանում է հիշողությունն ամեն հեռացված ատամի հետ:

Նորվեգացի գիտնականներն այդ փորձն արել են մարդկանց մասնակցությամբ: 1988թ-ից նրանք հետևել են կամավորների ճանաչողական ընդունակություններին: Պարզվել է, որ ամեն հեռացված ատամի հետ հիշողությունը նկատելիորեն վատանում է: Բացի այդ` ցանկացած ատամի հիվանդություն ազդում է գլխուղեղի աշխատանիքի վրա:
